Cornish Fishing and the COVID Lockdown- New Short Film Coming!

The recent COVID lockdown has caused unprecedented disruptions to global markets and the fishing community is one that has faced huge challenges to their supply chain. The true fragility of it was shown with many boats tying up as restaurants had to close for months and the foreign export markets became non-existent!

To help tell the stories of the fishing community, we are excited to announce that we have a new short film in creation! We have teamed up with Carrick Road Studios to show you how members of the Cornish fishing community have been affected and how they have adapted.

You will hear from some of the fisherman and women of Cornwall, tell you how lockdown has affected their trade, what this could mean for their 'new normal' and how they choose to catch sustainably.

If you haven't yet, read their recent journal post, where they joined Ben and Chris Lowe on the Atlantic Voyager for the day. Click here to see what they have been getting up to during the creation. Remember to keep an eye on our social media for the release in the next few weeks!

We have been working endlessly to help to connect the small-scale fisherman and the public during these hard times, as we want to help create new local markets and see a more resilient and shorter supply chain for them going forward! You can help by buying and eating local sustainable seafood, either straight from the fishermen or your local fishmonger. Check out our online where to buy directory to find your local seafood and our guide on what seafood we recommend for a sustainable choice.
