Cornish waters are home to many rare species, some of which are prohibited and cannot be landed by Cornish (or any other) fishermen.

Poorbeagle shark
Spurdog - this is a protected species in European waters. There is currently a ban on landing this species but sadly due to their schooling nature it is very difficult for fishermen to avoid catching them. A recent project called Project Neptune provides real time data to fishermen to help them avoid areas where spurdogs have been accidentally caught. for more infomation read end of project report here.
